Community Connections Committee
A relatively new committee, we filled a need to reach out and support the members of our own church community, plus those in the community around the church.
We have renewed our Card Ministry and Visitation Team; very well received and appreciated by the congregation. We also distribute Christmas Gifts (with a visit) to our members who are unable to attend church.
Our first big venture was our beautiful Blessings Box in the front yard of the church where we provide children and adult books, toys, crafts, school supplies and hygiene items, particularly in support of the students at Franklin School.
We are supportive of the Stanley Park Eats Program at the community centre, plus the summertime Stanley Park Market.
Along with Rosemount United Church, we house the Sharing Place event, where clothing, toys and household items are distributed for free four times a year.
As a community outreach, we hold a Trunk Sale each summer, raising funds for the Stanley Park Eats program from our vendor fees. Fun day … making new friends.
And beginning last year, we have participated in Kitchener’s Neighbour’s Day with music, games and fellowship, and a visit from the Kitchener Fire Department … and the mayor. Good times!
